Somatic yoga works from the inside out. By gently teaching the brain to release old movement habits, the muscles become freer, the nervous system becomes calmer, and the whole body learns to move with more comfort and awareness.
1:1 Yoga Therapy
A yoga therapist uses the tools of yoga—movement, breathing, mindfulness, self reflection, goal setting, and relaxation—to support your specific health and wellness needs.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all class, yoga therapy is personalized, gentle, and collaborative.

What is Somatic Yoga?
Experience a gentle, science-informed practice designed to release tension at its source in this live weekly webinar. Somatic Yoga uses slow, mindful movements to retrain the way your brain and muscles work together, helping you move with greater ease, comfort, and awareness.
Why it works:
Many patterns of tightness aren’t caused by “tight muscles,” but by the nervous system holding those muscles in a constant state of contraction. Somatic Yoga helps unwind these patterns through neuromuscular re-education—teaching your body how to relax deeply and naturally.
What Somatic Yoga Supports:
Muscle Release & Mobility: Melt away chronic tension, improve flexibility, and restore balanced movement without forceful stretching.
Nervous System Regulation: Calm the stress response, soothe the mind, and activate the parasympathetic system for deep relaxation.
Mindful Body Awareness: Build a clearer sense of where you hold tension and learn how to soften it through movement.
Long-Term Ease: Replace old habits with new, healthy patterns that support better posture, comfort, and freedom in everyday life.
Whether you’re seeking relief from stiffness, stress, or simply want to move more mindfully, Somatic Yoga offers a powerful path to reconnecting with your body—one gentle movement at a time.

A yoga therapist uses the tools of yoga—movement, breathing, mindfulness, and relaxation—to support your specific health and wellness needs.
Instead of a one-size-fits-all class, yoga therapy is personalized, gentle, and collaborative.
Your journey begins with a personalized assessment of your movement patterns and breath, allowing us to set clear, individualized goals. Through breathwork, mindful movement, postural alignment, and reflective practices, we’ll co-create a path toward emotional balance, nervous system regulation, and holistic well-being.
Every session is tailored to meet your unique needs—providing compassionate, one-on-one care to support your healing and growth.

I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) and Trauma-Sensitive HeartMath Practitioner with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals in their recovery from trauma, emotional healing, and building physical resilience.
In my private practice, Mind Your Body Yoga Therapy, I specialize in working with individuals who are navigating the complexities of trauma, chronic pain, and dysregulated nervous systems. I use a blend of trauma-sensitive yoga, somatic therapies, and nervous system regulation techniques to help clients safely reconnect with their bodies, process experiences through self-reflection, and cultivate a sense of inner calm and resilience.
In addition to trauma work, I bring a focus on strength training and Pilates, recognizing their powerful role in building physical resilience and supporting emotional healing. These practices complement my holistic approach, helping clients increase body awareness, stability, and empowerment. My approach is rooted in creating a safe, compassionate environment where clients can feel seen and supported. I deeply understand that healing is a full mind-body process.
In addition to my work as a yoga therapist, I’ve spent over 20 years teaching and leading group wellness programs at health clubs, as well as working with adolescents, individuals, and families as a therapist. I’ve seen firsthand the powerful role that movement, breath, and mindfulness can play in releasing stored trauma and fostering healing. My mission is to empower my clients to build emotional resilience, strengthen their connection to their bodies, and find healing at their own pace.
My passion has led me to also be on the board of a non-profit company, Empowered Wellness, that helps to provide treatment for trauma survivors. I am also the host of Yoga Therapy, The Alchemy of Healing.

Testimonials
""Marie has changed my life. I am a Registered Nurse of 20 years. I came to Marie beaten down by life and in chronic pain. With her guidance and wisdom I have gradually moved through much of the deep physical and emotional pain that I have been carrying for many years. The somatic work I have done with her, has been pivotal in my growth during this challenging time in my life. I now refer to her as my midlife mentor. I am forever grateful for Marie she is priceless. ""

""I have been taking a variety of fitness and yoga classes from Marie for some time. She comes to class with an open heart and a beautiful smile. She is knowledgeable, she is passionate, she is welcoming to all and she is always understanding of individual needs. Marie is a certified instructor in many areas, and she is always expanding her fitness education and then offering her students more information so we can continue to grow in her class. A wonderful person, a wonderful teacher!" "

""Marie’s yoga class is a true highlight of my entire week and is a foundational part of my self-care routine. Marie has a unique and masterful way of leading us in yoga that is deeply healing to the mind, body, and spirit. My background as a physician has taught me about the positive effect Marie’s yoga has on our nervous system, especially our sympathetic nervous system (“fight or flight”). Yoga helps to calm our anxious minds, heal neural pathways, improve our immune system, and allows us to better navigate challenges in our life with a sense of balance. During these extremely challenging times of the pandemic, Marie adapted to offer classes virtually and continues to provide this option. This past year, during the pandemic, has been especially challenging for me, and Marie’s yoga class has been a Godsend to my journey and health. Her somatic practices have already shown improvements in my neck pain, low back discomfort, and ankle mobility. Marie helps guide us in gently reconnecting to our breath throughout class, as the breath is our foundation as we go about our entire day. She lovingly helps correct form to ensure our safety and avoid injury. Marie’s class is always unique and blends her training in trauma-informed yoga, somatic yoga, and yoga therapy. " "
